Cultural Ambassadors' Grant at Oakfield Infant School

Piccalo 132.jpg

Oakfield Infant School has used the Cultural Ambassadors' Grant to develop a project linking music and movement. Year two children attended a workshop with Cultural Partner, Piccolo music. Abi and Anna from Piccolo involved adults and children in learning a variety of singing and clapping songs. Parents and staff came along to join in as well and everyone learned songs which involved Maths, English, Science, PE, French and PSHE. The children were particularly excited when creating their own singing and clapping games.

Read on to find out more about the project and how your school can apply for funding.

The next stage of the project involves the Year two children teaching the games and songs to Reception and Year one children. They will be encouraged to play these games at lunch times and playtimes. An evaluation of the project will be completed at the end of the Summer term 2010.

The next round of funding will be announced in the Cultural Ambassadors' e-bulletin this summer term.
