Creative Partnerships Focus: Whickham School
Whickham School has also been using its Creative Partnerships funding to explore outdoor learning, using the provocation 'How can we use outdoor space to create an environment which will enhance pupils' learning experiences?'
Whickham School sees the project as leading to a tangible benefit in the medium long term for pupils who will see the spaces being of benefit until the projected re-build in 2012. It is also expected to be a means of increasing parental and community involvement. Pupils will be designing a Parental Perception Survey, and consultation exercise, and ideas will be disseminated to parents and the wider community through the newsletter.
Those involved will be Year 7 pupils, and form teachers, teachers within English and other curriculum areas, specialist artists, parents, the wider community and Creative Partnerships.
Staff hope the project will allow some external visits, to stimulate discussion about a possible theme, eg. historical /cultural sites, such as stone circles etc., dependent upon pupils' initial suggestions.
The role of the Creative Agent during this project will be:
* To form links and liaise with specialists on behalf of the school
* To help organise visits if required
* To maintain a supportive and advisory role
Watch this space for more news from Whickham School, and don't forget to apply for your own school's funding by 1 June 2010.
