Love Books Conference...

On Tuesday 16th March 2010, Newcastle Libraries are holding their second Children's Literature conference at the new Newcastle City Library from 8.45am-1pm.

All colleagues who work with primary aged children in Newcastle and the North East (e.g. Teachers, Librarians and Children's Centre staff etc) are invited to an interactive morning which will consist of keynote addresses from Educational and Culture Consultant Caroline Redmond who will look at the wider context for 'reading for pleasure' and from Rebecca Kennedy UKLA who will be discussing the impact of Summer Reading Challenge.

During the rest of the morning there will be a choice of workshops delivered by Seven Stories and Eric Ferguson (Senior Primary Consultant for School Improvement in Newcastle) and are designed for you to gain practical ideas about how to develop children's understanding of texts and how you can keep on top of latest literary developments.

The conference will also include a chance to network, have a tour around the new City Library and come away enthused with new ideas about how to encourage a love of reading in children and with practical strategies to support comprehension and the reading of texts.
