Schools' creativity shines at Baltic
The creative talents of Gateshead and Newcastle schools have been shining at Baltic. As part of Shine Children's Art Festival, schools were invited to share the creative projects they've been enjoying this year.
A visit to Gateshead Heritage @ St. Mary's inspired Cedars Sports College to create stained glass windows depicting the Angel of the North. Ravenswood Primary School took a sculptural approach, involving parents in creating a wide variety of sculptures with their children, whilst Whickham School took a contemporary approach to knitting, in a project that involved the whole school. Working on the theme of journeys, Newburn Manor Nursery School enjoyed exploring the world we live in, whilst Cardinal Hume School combined Photoshop and pinhole cameras to create some fascinatingly eerie images.
Congratulations to all the schools involved in this fantastic exhibition, which can be seen in the Quay space of Baltic. Please leave your comments below. For information about other Baltic projects you can get involved in, click here.
