We had a great turnout for the first Indian workshop session with participants happy to 'give some eyebrows' for the 'Adja movement' and stamp on cockroaches in Bollywood dance. You have to be there to understand!
I'd just added some hasthas (Indian dance hand gestures/movements) to the package by looking on the internet the night before - may put some more of those into future projects.
Also introduced a lovely song - Chanda Mama, about the moon making cookies -from an old 1950's. black and white film.
Looking forward to the second session where we'll be playing instruments and doing some stick dancing. Watch those fingers!!!

Thanks Janet, for a fantastic session! The Cultural Ambassadors learned a lot about Indian dance and song, and it was really useful to hear about how primary school children respond to these activities.
If you attended the session, please leave a comment here to let us know how you are using your skills.
Don't forget to check your Directory of Cultural Partners for artists available to deliver India themed workshops in your school!

I would just like to say a big thank you to Caroline Pearce for all the help and support I have had over the last couple of months to find a work experience placement for my daughter in an art based environment. As she is only 15 years old not many places were willing to take her, but Caroline took the time to find some possible placements and email details to me and through this we have secured a place for her at The Mushroom Works and she is absolutely delighted and can't wait for April. Thanks again Caroline your help has been fantastic!!!
