Artform focus: Music-based Cultural Partners

The network includes many Cultural Partners who offer music based workshops. One of the latest to join is Beamworks 001.jpgStuart Freeland of BEAMworks. This exciting, accessible music technology workshop involves using a piece of equipment called a Soundbeam. Users - from toddlers to adults - use the Soundbeam to trigger notes, melodies, samples and sounds, by interrupting an invisible beam. Groups can record and distort their own voices, as well as create video or still image, which is triggered by the sound. Stuart recently delivered a BEAMworks workshop at Fell Dyke Primary School, where children delighted in creating music with the BEAMworks technology. The workshop provided a stimulating kinesthetic learning experience, whilst linking to Art & Design, Design & Technology, ICT, Music, Mathematics and PHSE.

Other Cultural Partners available for music based workshops with your learning setting include Arts Isiziba for African drumming sessions; Explore Music at the Sage Gateshead - a music research facility to compliment your visit to this world class music venue; Izon Audio Visual with their state of the art facilities where you can record your own music and video; Michaelmusic who can show you how to turn junk into musical instruments, and Piccolo Music's original singing and music sessions for under fives...
