Whickham School's Success at Debating Competiton

Congratulations to the young people from Whickham Comprehensive School who participated in the Institute of Ideas and Pfizer Debating Matters Competition's North East Regional Final.

Whickham teacher Kate Ross was delighted with her team's performance: “This is a fantastic opportunity for my students; not only is it great preparation for University but it brings out the very best in them- confidence and a conviction that is founded on scrupulous research.

Were you at the Debating event? Do you feel that other young people would benefit from debating competitions such as this? Is there scope for a Borough debating society, or a Gateshead-wide competition?
