The French horn is a dying breed - one of the endangered species of the orchestra. Come and find out about its history, sound, versatility and how we are trying to stop it from becoming extinct!
During this exciting hour-long concert, Clarence Adoo will introduce the instruments of the orchestra, while Peter Francomb, principal French Horn player for the Northern Sinfonia, plays music written by composers such as Mozart, Faure and Strauss. The music is guaranteed to be engaging and the presentation will give plenty of scope for you to continue learning about the instrument back at school.
We are also offering an opportunity for two schools to win a one to one teaching session with Peter immediately following the concert or a visit to your school for a ‘Discover the French Horn’ Workshop to be arranged at a later date.
In addition, there will be a display of instruments brought to us by John Packers Ltd who are pioneering a newly designed French Horn, Suitable for young people from 7 years old. These instruments are proving to be popular among the Music services in the South of England.
Further resources will be available on the day.
Prizes available to the first 2 schools that book 60 places.
First Prize: Practical session on the French Horn led by Peter Francombe, following the concert.
Second Prize: Discover the Horn session in your school
