Evening Chronicle Young Achievers Award

For 14 to 25 year-olds, but hurry, the deadline is Friday 13th of October.

This year Arts Council England, North East is sponsoring the Arts Achievement award in the Evening Chronicle's Young Achiever Awards 2006. The awards are aimed at identifying and celebrating the achievements of young people who have been successful in a number of different areas.

What are the awards?
The Evening Chronicle Young Achiever Awards were launched in 2001 and have gone from strength to strength, with over 180 entries received for last year's event. The awards aim to champion and highlight the success of children and young people in the specific categories and to create positive role models who will serve as an inspiration to others. The awards are promoted heavily within the Chronicle and culminate in an awards ceremony on 5 December 2006.

Arts Achievement category
This award is aimed at a young person whose work within the arts (broadcast, dance, film & video, photography, literature, visual arts, drama, music, new media, craft, etc) has enabled them to fulfil goals they would not normally have expected to achieve. This could be through delivering an arts project within the community, achieving something of exceptional standard or achieving something through the arts which has helped to change their lifestyle or career plans.

Who's eligible?
The awards are open to young people aged between 14 and 25 years and resident in the North East. These could be young people undertaking the Arts Award, in Creative Partnership schools, local colleges, universities, your son/daughter/niece/nephew/brother/sister.

Prizes:
The winner of the category will receive a special trophy and £1000.

Two runners up which each receive £250 and a certificate.
