Ambassadors' Network
As part of Gateshead Council's priority on developing Education with Character, especially related to Culture, we built a network of Culture and Creativity Ambassador teachers (CCAs for short) within Gateshead Schools.
This initiative was launched on 3rd June 2003 at The Shipley Art Gallery. Our research has involved looking at various models of Ambassador schemes across the country and in Gotenburg, Sweden (a cultural partner with Gateshead). Due to demand, we welcomed all Early Years providers in Gateshead to join the network in Summer 2005.

- Ambassadors are an enthusiastic teacher from any discipline, nominated by staff and Heads to develop culture and creativity within the life of the school and in the delivery of the service. They are the 'Cultural Voice' of the school community.
- They receive and disseminate information sent to them via email, this weblog and packs from the CCA staff and the external Cultural Partners. They then disseminate it amongst colleagues where relevant, sharing good practice, planning joint initiatives, providing inspiration and motivation, attending network meetings and personal development events in cultural and creative activities.
