'Frogman' @ Caedmon Hall 22nd June
Bent Architect present:
FROG MAN by Mick Martin
‘Surreal, twisted and absolutely funny’ – Edinburgh Guide
Friday 22nd June @ 6.30 pm, Caedmon Hall.
Following on from a highly successful run at this years’ Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a one off (entirely sold out!) performance at Wakefield Arts Centre in October, Frog Man is on the loose once again in 2007!
From a suburban nightmare to sub aquatic bliss – this is a story of love, bullying and the turgid waters of domestic life. It begins one fateful afternoon down by the canal when Kenny and Kelly, two ordinary kids, steal Adrian Dunfor’s kite and their game goes horribly wrong…
Now Kenny is a police frogman and Kelly has dreadful asthma. They live at 46 Sunnybrook Meadow and drive a 4x4 in case anyone tries to murder them on the way to the supermarket. But that afternoon is with them still...
“Wonderfully sardonic pitch-black comedy. Witty one-liners abound throughout… Glorious and innovative - left me breathless
Three Weeks Magazine
“George Orwell meets Nick Hornby, but with a plus…
The Observer
Written by award winning MICK MARTIN, (Once Upon A Time In Wigan, The Life & Times of Young Bob Scallion) and directed by JUDE WRIGHT.
Frog Man is very funny - but with dark and at times disturbing overtones. The production appeals to established drama attendees and new audiences alike. It carries the personal recommendation of Alison Andrews, Arts Council Yorkshire Performance Arts Officer amongst others.
This show is suitable for audiences aged 14 upwards.
Running time approx 70 minutes

This year Arts Council England, North East is sponsoring the Arts Achievement award in the Evening Chronicle's Young Achiever Awards 2006. The awards are aimed at identifying and celebrating the achievements of young people who have been successful in a number of different areas.
What are the awards?
The Evening Chronicle Young Achiever Awards were launched in 2001 and have gone from strength to strength, with over 180 entries received for last year's event. The awards aim to champion and highlight the success of children and young people in the specific categories and to create positive role models who will serve as an inspiration to others. The awards are promoted heavily within the Chronicle and culminate in an awards ceremony on 5 December 2006.
Arts Achievement category

This could be through delivering an arts project within the community, achieving something of exceptional standard or achieving something through the arts which has helped to change their lifestyle or career plans.
Who's eligible?
The awards are open to young people aged between 14 and 25 years and resident in the North East. These could be young people undertaking the Arts Award, in Creative Partnership schools, local colleges, universities, your son/daughter/niece/nephew/brother/sister.

An opportunity for young people and local businesses
Join the region’s largest mobile showcase of north east business…
This summer you have the opportunity to join the region’s largest ever mobile showcase of north east business.
Aspire – through the North East Really Delivers (nerd) campaign – will be out and about on a double-decker bus throughout July and August, which will be jam-packed with career information, competitions and fun activities to let the region’s young people know about the exciting and varied opportunities for them in the north east.
To support the tour, nerd will be on the look-out for organisations from a range of different sectors to come aboard and demonstrate that the north east really is the place to work, study and ultimately to succeed.
Whether you’re looking to recruit, would like the opportunity to promote your organisation to young people, businesses and parents across the region, or just feel passionately about letting young people know that they don’t need to leave the region in order to achieve their potential, then nerd would love to hear from you.
The bus will be making the following stops this summer after having already visited Durham and Northumberland:
Stockton Int’l Riverside Festival Friday 4th August
Newcastle, Haymarket Friday 11th August
Sunderland City Centre Thursday 24th August
Taking part in the tour is absolutely free and there are a number of ways in which your organisation can get involved:
• Nominate yourself or one of your colleagues to come aboard the bus to tell young people about opportunities in your business or what it’s like to be part of your industry sector.
• Sign-up for one of our career ‘demo slots’ to provide a practical demonstration of what your company does or the sort of work you’re involved in. For example, this could involve a demo of how you make one of your products.
• Provide information about career, training or work experience opportunities in your organisation to be displayed on the bus.
• Donate promotional materials for use in the tour’s goody bags or a prize to be offered as part of the tour’s online competition.
This list is by no means exhaustive and we would love to hear any suggestions you might have about how your organisation can get involved. Let us know by registering at www.nerd-world.co.uk/tour, emailing us at comeaboard@nerd-world.org or by giving Danielle a call on 0191 261 1333.
